Konya is known for the Mevlana Museum, home to the tomb of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi; the Şeb-i Arus ceremonies are held every December.
Çatalhöyük, south-east of the city, is a Neolithic settlement about 9,000 years old and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Sille, to the north-west, with its stone houses and the Church of St Helena, makes a quiet village escape.
