Most state museums stay open on public holidays, but they get busier; public transport may be free on some holidays. The dates of Ramadan and Kurban Bayramı follow the lunar calendar and move forward by about eleven days each year; the exact days are announced in the Diyanet calendar.
- First day of religious holidays: The Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar are usually closed; some museums open in the afternoon.
- Friday midday: The visiting break at mosques lasts longer.
- Weekly closures: Topkapı is closed on Tuesdays, Dolmabahçe on Mondays and the Grand Bazaar on Sundays. Our route planner takes these into account automatically.
