What you need to know about public transport
İstanbulkart
Works on the metro, tram, ferries, buses and Marmaray. Buy it from machines at stations and top it up with cash or card.
T1 tram
Links Sultanahmet, Eminönü and Karaköy; the backbone of the historic peninsula.
Ferry
The Eminönü–Kadıköy and Karaköy–Üsküdar lines are both transport and a Bosphorus tour. Time it for sunset.
