What to expect?
From the 15th century to the mid-19th century, Topkapı Palace was the administrative centre and residence of the Ottoman sultans. Across its four courtyards you can visit the Imperial Council, the Treasury, the Sacred Relics and terraces overlooking the Bosphorus.
The Harem requires a separate ticket; with its tiled rooms, it's one of the most impressive parts of the palace. To avoid the crowds, we recommend arriving at opening time and visiting the Harem first.
The palace is closed on Tuesdays. Allow at least three hours to see every section.
