What to expect?

The Mevlevi sema ceremony is on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Accompanied by the ney and kudüm, the whirling of the semazens lasts about an hour.

The sema is not a show but a ceremony: no photos are taken and there is no applause during it. A short explanation is given beforehand.

How to use it?
